Exiting my local butcher shop a gold 1980 Porsche 924 pulls up beside me. This car is in absolutely gorgeous shape, gold with black exterior and black pin-stripes that follow it’s contour. I take a deep breath…the fact that two of my favorite things were in one place, meat and a Porsche, was blowing my mind.
The matching gold custom rims upon closer inspection are from a 1980 Porsche 928. I introduce myself to the owner Dave, tell him I write for PorscheLover.com and say that he has a very unique car. I got a big grin in return and he began to elaborate.
“It’s my very first car and I really wanted a Porsche. I was looking on autotrader for a year to find a Porsche for sale, and this came up…my friends think I’m crazy that I got one with a tan interior, but I love it.”
I recognize his face and ask where I know him from. “I work at the butcher shop (Coté Du Boeuf)…have you seen me parked here before?” he asks. I tell him this is the first time I have ever seen his car but I recognise his face because I practically work there myself I’m there so often.
What made the experience of meeting Mike even more memorable was that he was parked out front of my favorite butcher shop Cote De Boeuf. It’s based on a Parisian style butcher shop, inspired by one of the owners who trained and lived in France.
They serve amazing prepared foods and have incredible cuts of meat that are local and organic. One of the owners Tao runs a restaurant just down the street called UNION. The food there is amazing and when he opened Cote De Boeuf with his brother Chasen and another partner, I became a regular.
I shake Mike’s hand give him my card and thank him for letting me take so many pictures of his Porsche.
